Coldplay kid wants to be Beyoncé

Gwyneth Paltrow’s six-year-old daughter wants to be “Beyoncé Knowles or a baker” when she gets older.

The 37-year-old actress has two children, Apple and four-year-old Moses, with her husband Chris Martin. Apple is a keen singer and loves bread, and so has decided she wants to be a pop star or a baker when she grows up.

“She’s a good singer, really good singer,” Gwyneth said in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “She says wants to do concerts like Beyoncé or be a baker so I’m hoping for something somewhere in the middle.

“Although I wouldn’t put her in front of you Ellen on theAmerican Idol stage – you’d crush her!”

Ellen is a judge on the hit singing contest.

Gwyneth and Chris are good friends with Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z. The couples met at a charity event in New York a few years ago and have been close ever since.

“We just kind of hooked up and become close,” Gwyneth explained. “They are incredible people, very kind and generous. She’s amazing at everything. She’s so good it’s nauseating. She’s so perfect it’s hard to take!”

Gwyneth also spoke about rumours she is planning to expand her family in the near future. She said she would love to have another baby, but would be just as happy if she didn’t.

“I would love to have another child at some point, but I feel so lucky to have two healthy nice ones that I’d be happy with that too,” she said.

COLDPLAY have done a U-turn and allowed their music to be used by hit TV show Glee.

Producers are now busy working on a special episode of the American series featuring the band's tracks.

I can't help feeling their revised decision to now hand over their music must be financially motivated.

Unless Chris's wife GWYNETH PALTROW had a word in his ear.

Let's be honest - it's a show for the girls and the gays.

On paper you can understand why the camp high school musical drama would not seem an obvious choice for Coldplay.

But the series has been a smash hit all over the world and the spin-off albums - three so far - have sold by the truckload.

Writer Ryan had approached the band after the success of a one-off MADONNA special to see if he could do a Coldplay episode too.

But they said no way.

Canadian soft rocker BRYAN ADAMS also turned down the show - and has so far stuck to his guns.

Ryan explained: "At the beginning a lot of people didn't know what we were and asked to see scripts.

"I refused because I didn't want to set the precedent of them having any involvement.

Coldplay - Coldplay To Take U2'S Glastonbury Slot?

Rockers Coldplay have reportedly been approached to take over U2's headlining slot at the famed Glastonbury festival - after frontman BONO underwent emergency spinal surgery on Friday (21May10).

Organisers of the U.K.'s leading music festival are rushing to find a possible replacement for the Beautiful Day hitmakers after Bono injured his back while preparing for the band's 360 Degree world tour.

Chris Martin and his bandmates are currently working on their next album after wrapping up their Viva La Vida trek - but are said to be considering Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis' offer to play the festival next month (Jun10).

London rapper Dizzee Rascal is also believed to be in consideration for the slot on 25 June (10), according to British newspaper The Sun.

Bono, 50, is said to be recuperating under the care of a sports injury specialist and a neurosurgeon. U2 have scrapped the first show of their North American tour and are expected to make further cancellations due to Bono's back problems.

Coldplay to release new Album this Winter.

Coldplay will release a new album in 2010, according to Chris Martin.

The band are currently at work in their own studio, thought to be a converted church, in London. Speaking in a video interview with Globo.com - which you can watch by clicking below - Martin said he wants to release the album "hopefully this Christmas". He added that the band are being extra security-conscious to make sure their new material doesn't leak online.

There's only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files," Martin explained. "Even we [Coldplay] don't know how to do it. We couldn't even steal our own music at the moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it."

Just months after Coldplay released their #1 debut album, Parachutes, in England, they were hailed as Band of the Year 2000 in the music press. It all began when the members of Coldplay met in 1996 - their first week of college (University College London). Two and a half years later, they had their first official band session - a rehearsal in Jonny's bedroom in January of 1998. Jonny and Chris had been working on songs since they met, but the other two members hadn't really been around much until Guy joined the band to play bass just before dropping out of engineering school. The other two stuck with their studies, while also pursuing music.

Coldplay in greatest encore ever ?

Coldplay may have performed one of the greatest ever encores, or so says the charity which benefitted from the English rockers’ largesse last night.

The band performed at a double bill with the Killers late on Wednesday/early on Thursday at a gig following the BRITs music awards in London. While the BRITs was, to put it politely, a somewhat staid affair, the concert was much more rock’n'roll. The Killers stormed through a 45-minute set and the rowdy crowd of 2,000 loved every note. One downer was the nearly hour-long wait for Coldplay, which sucked some of the goodwill out of the air.

They warmed the crowd up again, however, with some older hits including “Yellow”, and then came the interesting bit.

First Coldplay provided the music for Take That’s Gary Barlow as he sang love ballad “Back for Good”, with Martin, one of the world’s biggest rock stars at the moment, on backing vocals. The humble gesture went down a treat. Then to round it all off, Coldplay were joined on stage by Barlow, The Killers, and none other than Bono to sing the finale (The Killers’ All These Things That I’ve Done).

The gig was held to raise money for War Child, a charity aiding child victims of war all over the world. On it’s Website, the charity is daring to suggest it may have been the “the greatest encore ever.

Muse Is World’s Best Act, Q Mag says

Muse British rock band was branded the best musical act on the planet at the last night annual Q awards in London, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis and Coldplay outdoing other UK rivals.
Arctic Monkeys received the award for the best live act, after a battle which involved Blur, U2 and Take That among other acts, as indie band Kasabian walked away with the title of best album of the year with West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.
The outstanding contribution to music award was given to former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, who was one of many classic performers honoured by the faithfuls of Q, a pop and rock music magazine published every month and appreciated for its interviews.
Q’s editor-in-chief Paul Rees said the magazine is proud to involve the nation’s music fans who decide on its awards recognising musical excellence and achievement during the past year. He added that, once again, Q readers voted by the thousands.
Rees said that the team at the magazine is equally thrilled to honour the enduring impact of those musicians who have shaped Britain’s musical landscape and still continue to do so today.
Formerly known as Cat Stevens, Yusuf Islam, was awarded the classic songwriter prize and “Q legend” award went to Edwyn Collins. Spandau Ballet was named “Q idol” and Marianne Faithful, “Q icon”.
The best new act award went to White Lies, the prize for breakthrough artist was awarded to Mr Hudson and Lady GaGa got the best video prize for Just Dance.
Lily Allen’s The Fear, the singer’s second number one single in the country, received the best track award.
Other winners included The Specials, who were celebrated for being an inspiration, Sonic Youth for their sound innovation and Frankie Goes to Hollywood got the prize for best classic song, with Relax.
Dublin boys and world class act U2 walked away with the Q classic album award for The Unforgettable Fire.

20th anniversary Simpsons episode for Coldplay

Coldplay has been announced as particular guests on the 20th anniversary episode of The Simpsons. According to Pitchfork.com, the episode will air on January 14th, 2010. An earlier report by RollingStone.com suggested that in the episode, Homer Simpson hires the band to play privately for him and Bart after he wins the lottery with the band having to stop their performance while Bart goes to the bathroom. Previous musical acts that have made guest show on the long running series include U2, three of the Beatles, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, the White Stripes, the Smashing Pumpkins, Blink 182, the Who and the late Michael Jackson, while Green Day was heavily featured in the Simpsons movie a few years back. In other news, Coldplay is seemingly not quite done with touring behind their Viva La Vida album just yet. Although the pair ended the main cycle last month in London, they'll spend February and March touring Latin America stadiums, beginning on February 26th in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Coldplay return to UK over 'nervous'

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has revealed the band was "really nervous" about playing the UK leg of its world tour, which started on Saturday.
The group played its first UK gig of this year at Manchester's Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
Martin said, "It spirits like we have been away for a long time. The four of us were feeling actually nervous about coming back home,"

Their Viva La Vida tour began in June 2008 and will wrap up on 19 September.
In June it was announced that rapper Jay-Z and Girls Aloud will both appear at Coldplay's final tour dates at Wembley Stadium.
Martin said the crowd of 50,000 had "given us a better response than we could possibly have asked for".
He added: "It is a bit like when Stefan Dennis went back to Neighbours he didn't know what the reaction would be.
The band closed the show with Life In Technicolour II, and gig goers were handed a free live album as they left the arena.
They are also scheduled to play Dublin on Monday the 156th date of their tour.

It tells you all you want to know about Coldplay's status that they launched a four night UK stadium excursion with the world's best known rapper as their opening act even if frontchap Chris Martin did puncture the moment by cackling, "I still can't quite believe it."
The you couldn't-make-it-up double bill was a courageous move for Coldplay, who are hopelessly outclassed by Jay-Z in the charisma and swagger department. To add to his attractions, he has just had his first UK No 1 single, Run This Town. The chance of Coldplay being upstaged by their support act was very real. In the event, they weren't. They can thank the audience's placid indifference to his urgent depictions of the world according to a bad lad made good. Jay-Z worked hard, firing out hits such as 99 Problems and Show Me What You Got and getting his guitarist to play The Star Spangled Banner. He finally got his due, leaving to warm clapping.
For all their record sales, Coldplay have little personal magnetism, which didn't bode well for a gig where the wideness of the venue demanded personalities big enough to fill it. Unexpectedly, though, they rose to the occasion, and then some. In this outdoor setting, their many hits, so mopey on record, expanded into magnificent processionals. Songs you had come to hate through perennial airplay, such as Fix You and Viva la Vida, suddenly sounded grand, in the best sort of way.
Chris Martin proved to be a bit of a wonder: the rock star who has made a life's work of walking on the mild side unleashed the brute within. There is one, believe it or not, and while Liam Gallagher can rest easy, it was still jaw dropping to look Martin racing around the stage, battering his guitar and singing more vehemently than he has ever dared in a studio. Who would have guessed he could imbue an acoustic version of Billie Jean sung on a mini stage in the middle of the crowd with double the paranoia of the original?
Was it his idea to use old X Factor picture of Simon Cowell to "critique" the audience when they sang along to Yellow? Martin urged us to bawl out the song, then Cowell appeared on screen, adjudging our effort a "complete and utter nightmare". Equally questionably, he orchestrated a "mobile phone Mexican wave", but redeemed himself by leading the group through a lovely, lilting encore of The Scientist.
"We've done 154 rehearsals around the world just to sound good in Manchester," Martin laughed. How about that? Coldplay in "surprisingly good" shock.

Coldplay and Jay-Z are to play a special show in Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley's living room. The performance, which will air live on the radio station, forms part of the annual Live Lounge tour. The five-day jaunt begins on September 14 with a special show at Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno's house in Leicester.Whiley will then travel to X-Factor band JLS's living room in London on September 15, Biffy Clyro's Ayrshire house on September 16 and Dizzee Rascal's studio on September 17. The tour concludes with Jay-Z and Coldplay on September 18 just hours before the first of their two shows at London's Wembley Stadium.As with previous Live Lounge tours, each artist play an original song and a cover.

Chris Martin to Leave Coldplay, Gwyneth Paltrow Wants

Gwyneth Paltrow has been branded the Yoko Oko of Coldplay because she’s trying to assure her husband Chris Martin to leave the band and go solo.
The actress clearly feels her hubby will do better on his own.
“Gwyneth has outright told Chris that he should consider going solo,” a source told Betty Confidential. “She is busy doing all of her projects and she needs him to diversify as well. She doesn’t have a problem with Coldplay, but she needs Chris to think about trying a solo album just to see if he likes it.
“When Gwyneth referenced it, Chris was furious. He loves the band and he has no appetite to different things right now. Chris basically ignored her and walked away.”
In 2004, Paltrow said, “People ask if I will sing with the band or do a duet, but always in anterior of my mind is the Yoko effect. I don’t want to be known as the girl who split up Coldplay.”

Coldplay apologise for cancelling Tampa show due to 'medical reasons'

Band say the performance will be rescheduled.
Coldplay have excused for having to cancel a gig at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa yesterday (August 9).
In a message posted on the band's official website, Coldplay.com, it was described that the show would be rescheduled, and that the performance was cancelled due to aesculapian issues."We're sorry to report that Coldplay have been forced to postpone their show at the Ford Amphitheatre," the report read. "This is due to medical reasons. The show is currently being rescheduled – we'll give you the new details as soon as we have them. In the meantime, the band have asked us to rationalise on their behalf for the trouble this causes."Coldplay are set to play their next live show at the MCH Arena in Herning, kingdom of Denmark on August 16.
